12961389_10154110640959826_1434551565013760527_oFANS were given a peek into the future of British speedway today as Glasgow hosted the first round of the Mitas British Youth Championship.

More than 35 riders and 35 races were on show at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium in an entertaining afternoon’s racing.

The skill and determination of the riders was outstanding, and offered plenty of hope for the sport in this country in the coming years.

The winner of the 500cc class was Kyle Bickley, who has been a regular visitor to Glasgow in recent years to take in a few second-half laps.

Leon Flint, meanwhile, took victory in the 250cc class.

In the 150ccs the victor was Nathan Ablitt, while Dan Thompson took the 125cc class.

Round two of the event is due to take place at Belle Vue’s new National Speedway Stadium later this month – with eight rounds in total being held across the country.
