Bomber Blast

CHRIS HARRIS has vowed to stop Glasgow’s young guns from taking his No.1 spot.

The three-time British Champion returns to Ashfield on a mission to be a big-hitter for the Allied Vehicles Tigers in 2023.

‘Bomber’ knows he has a battle ahead with both 21-year-olds Ben Basso and Tom Brennan wanting to be the Glasgow kingpin with the season less than a month away.

He said: “I know that both of them have said they are pushing for the No.1 spot in the team. Obviously, I want to keep that No.1 place.

“The lads are ambitious as they should be, that’s what you want. I was always like that when I was younger. You always want to get to the next level and be the top man and No.1 in the team. It’s my job to stop them!”

Harris will return to the Tigers for the first time as part of their pre-season later this next month and believes the team has a good mix of youth and experience.

He added: “We’ll soon be back at Ashfield so I’m looking forward to that and getting ready for it with the boys.

“I know pretty much all of them. I don’t know much about the young Pole Marcin Nowak but I have raced against him.

“This looks like being a good bunch of lads. Benjamin is a character, I raced with him at Peterborough. He’s a good lad, a bit wild at times but fun. He wants to win, his attitude is right.

“I always want to help the youngsters, they appreciate it I guess. I always feel that you’ve still got to find your own feet. But advice is always handy.

“If there’s a few things I can say that helps them in their career, I’m happy about that.”
