WE CAN BE ACE!

ACE PIJPER says that he can be a trump card reserve partnership with Lee Complin.

The new Glasgow wonderkid will form a fascinating duo of youth and experience with Complin at Ashfield when the campaign kicks off in six weeks.

But Pijper, 16, says that his season has already begun with so much preparation.

He revealed: “It’s pretty unique for us as a family, there’s a lot to plan for.

“With my dad racing, plus me and my younger brother Stene, the calendar is hectic to say the least. It’s a bit of a juggling act for the family.

“My mum runs the team really. But it’s gone up a level now that I’m racing in two leagues and professional.

“Like most riders we’ve been working on machinery for some time now. I’m flat-out on getting my fitness and diet right.

“Then on top of that we’ve launched a new side of the business with marketing. Team Pijper has its own social media because sponsorship and backing is so important and needed for all three of us to be successful.

“I’m looking forward to the new season. To race in the Championship is going to be awesome. But it will be important for me to make progress and deal with all the challenges, it’s going to be tough, I know that.”

Pijper is also looking forward to teaming up with the Tigers and his new team-mates.

He added: “It’s a really good team with loads of youth and experience. I think it’s great for me to have the likes of Chris Harris and Claus Vissing, they’ve done so much before. But also younger riders like Tom Brennan and Ben Basso.

“I also reckon that Lee Complin and I can be good at reserve. I can’t wait to get going.

“I’ve also got a great team with Workington on a new track in the National League.

“It’s taking so much time to organise my life and career but it will be worth it. I’ve got two great clubs to race for and I’ll give it everything I’ve got to be successful and learn to win races.”
