GLASGOW’S 71-19 win over Scunthorpe yesterday is believed to have been the biggest in British speedway for eight years.
And only a handful of meetings have seen a similar scoreline in the last decade.
You have to go back to September 2008 to see a side win by a bigger margin than the Tigers – that was Somerset, who beat Mildenhall 72-18.
In fact, the Fen Tigers were on the end of three of those scorelines in that ill-fated same year, when they raced in the Premier League.
The biggest win of the last 10 years or so came in March 2007 when King’s Lynn beat Sheffield 75-15 in the former Premier Trophy.
Of course, many of a certain vintage will be able to remember the Tigers being on the end of a 74-16 scoreline away to Exeter in the early 2000s, at a time when the Falcons were banging in many big scores on home soil.
