RICHIE Worrall revealed how one great race had helped him find his best form again – as he led Glasgow to a 50-40 win over Workington.
The Glasgow No 1 had a couple of matches to forget on Sunday and Monday as he failed to even gather a handful of points for his team and in the British Final at Belle Vue.
But he came back with a vengeance for his Premiership side Poole on Wednesday night – sensationally fighting past top stars Robert Lambert and Niels-Kristian Iversen to land an impressive heat 13 victory and score 10+1.
And he was in that mood again tonight, racing to 11+2 and ensuring the Comets left empty-handed with an impressive heat 15 win.
The 26-year-old said: “I’m just trying to keep this roll going now after those bad couple of days on Sunday and Monday.
“I needed to start winning races again and after that heat 13 at Poole, I hadn’t felt like that for a long time after a race – so I want to feel like that every time.
“The track was slicker than normal and it confused me a little bit because I didn’t make any starts all night. In that last race I thought, I’ve got nothing to lose, I’m going to try something – and it came out really well.
“It’s always nice to start off with a win and I like being No 1 and being the first one out on the track. I like being first at everything I do.
“The other riders are looking at you for that first race result and they’re all over asking about the track – I enjoy being in that position.”
The three points take Glasgow to third, four off top side Peterborough – though with two meetings in hand.
A tough week lies ahead as the Tigers hit the road for trips to Sheffield and Workington, in the hunt for their first away league victory of the season.
