With this Sunday’s scheduled Premier League finale against Workington likely to feature multiple enforced rider changes due to the combined impact of league play-off activity, injuries on both sides as well as overseas commitments, it has been agreed by both clubs’ that it is in everyone’s interest to postpone the meeting.
Both Kevin Wolbert and Rene Bach would have missed this Sunday’s meeting due to non-FIM approved racing on the continent and therefore could only have been replaced by a National League guest.
Victor Palovaara has been signed-off from racing for 7 days as the result of his concussion suffered in Poland on Saturday night. Tero Aarnio is still sore following the impact to his lower back on Sunday although is due to race in Finland on Saturday night, and Rusty Harrison continues to battle to overcome his injury which forced him to sit out the clubs last two home meetings.
Workington also have three riders – Josh Grajczonek, Kyle Howarth and Simon Lambert – who are likely to feature in the Elite League play-off semi-finals on Monday night, and all three, and their clubs, are understandably not keen to risk injury at Glasgow this weekend.
Accordingly the Comets’ will now close the curtain on our 2014 season on Sunday, 26th October (start time 3pm).
Next action at Ashfield will now be Sunday, 19th October for the visit of Berwick Bandits’ (start time 3:15pm).
Although the Tigers won’t now be in action this weekend, skipper Theo Pijper has some further Knock Out Cup action to look forward to having been booked by Newcastle to ride in this Friday’s semi-final 1st leg tie as replacement for the injured Lewis Kerr. Another Tiger in action this weekend is Kasper who is scheduled to ride in Rusty’s testimonial at Workington on Saturday night, racing commences at 7pm.
