With the pace quickening on transfer market activity around the country, Glasgow Tigers are pleased to now be able to announce our second capture of the close season.
Returning to the club which first brought him to the UK is former Workington heat leader Rusty Harrison who will link up, alongside Anders Thomsen, with the Tigers for season 2014.
Former Australian U21 champion Harrison, 32, formerly rode for Glasgow in his debut British season in 2000 before quickly moving on to serve as a regular Workington Comet where he is due to stage a testimonial meeting next season. He also spent slightly less than 2 seasons at Edinburgh (2005/2006), and has also had spells with Stoke, Kings Lynn and Birmingham at PL level.
Rusty enjoyed a strong season at Derwent Park in 2013 and arrives at Glasgow on a 6.63 average which should see him bolster the middle order of the Tigers ranks in the season ahead.
Speaking from Australia about his Ashfield return, Rusty was clearly pleased to have renewed ties with the Tigers:
“Having been released from Workington, and being based in the North West, I was keen to try and find a new club which I’m suited to. I’ve always liked racing at Glasgow and have had a good reception from the fans there, I really look forward to being a Glasgow rider again and helping the club to a successful season.”
Tigers are continuing to speak with a number of other riders about riding for the club next season, details will be announced just as soon as contracts are signed.
