Tigers finish last at Championship Pairs

GLASGOW suffered disappointment in tonight’s Championship Pairs as they scored the lowest of the 10 teams at Somerset.

It was a night to forget for Chris Harris and Paul Starke, who didn’t manage a single heat win – a second place for Harris in his second ride as good as it got for the Tigers.

The tone for their night was set when they suffered a 7-2 defeat to Redcar in their opening race, a scoreline that was repeated against Ipswich and Workington.

Lakeside and Peterborough qualified from Group A, where Edinburgh just missed out by a point, with Workington and Sheffield making it through from Glasgow’s Group B.

Sheffield and Workington made the final and despite the Comets’ Ty Proctor winning the heat, partner Nicolai Klindt came last – meaning Charles Wright and Kyle Howarth took the 5-4 win for Sheffield.

The Tigers will want to move on quickly and turn their form around for Sunday’s visit to Scunthorpe, complete with new No 1 Craig Cook in the line-up.
