TWO years ago, Anders Thomsen was at reserve for Glasgow Tigers in the British Premier League.
Today the Dane is preparing to race as the wild card in tonight’s Danish Grand Prix in Horsens.
The 22-year-old Tigers asset is a 150/1 shot with some bookies to win tonight’s event – and it’s no real surprise given this year’s series is the most competitive for years.
But there will be plenty on the west coast of Scotland watching on with intrigue at how he performs against the world’s best.
There will be no easy races for Thomsen but he faces the eye-watering prospect of having to get the better of Greg Hancock, Bartosz Zmarzlik and Chris Harris in his opening heat.
He’ll then be in probably his hardest heat of the night when lining up against Tai Woffinden, Nicki Pedersen and Freddie Lindgren in the eighth race.
He appears again in heat 11 when he’s off the inside gate against series leader Chris Holder, Andreas Jonsson and Maciej Janowski.
In heat 14 he faces Niels-Kristian Iversen, Peter Kildemand and Matej Zagar before rounding off his qualifying heats against Antonio Lindback, Jason Doyle and Piotr Pawlicki.
Tapes up in Denmark is at 6pm and the meeting is live on BT Sport.
