Thomas fifth in British U21 Final

GLASGOW reserve Jack Thomas came fifth in tonight’s British U21 Championship – just missing out on a place in the grand final.

The talented youngster had to dust himself down from a heavy crash in his final qualifying heat following a collision with Zach Wajtknecht, making it to nine points and securing his place in the semi-final.

However, despite Alfie Bowtell crashing out at that stage, leaving just three riders competing for two places in the final, Thomas came third – ending his night in fifth position.

It was still an admirable result for the 19-year-old who continues to make significant strides since making the step up to Championship speedway at the start of this season.

Robert Lambert, the eventual winner, was in Thomas’s pit bay for large parts of the evening to help his close friend in the preparation of his machinery.
