LASGOW bosses are gearing up for what they believe will be one of the most “epic” battles the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium has ever seen.
In less than 24 hours, the Premier League’s top two sides go head-to-head in their bid to make the KO Cup final.
Glasgow and Somerset are no strangers to spectacular exchanges – just last season it took until the last heat of 30 for the Tigers to overcome the Rebels in the league play-offs.
But with the sides almost inseparable so far this campaign, and Glasgow only defending a four-point lead from the first leg, Tigers boss Stewart Dickson says it could be even tighter tomorrow – and has called for big backing from the £2 million setting of one of the country’s best stadiums.
He said: “We are 15 heats away from the KO Cup final and it’s going to be one epic battle to get us there.
“This could be one of Ashfield’s best-ever cup contests.
“I think this is our time – and we need all the fans out in force making plenty of noise.
“Scarves, flags, horns, whatever you’ve got – bring it. Let’s recreate the atmosphere that got the whole of British speedway talking earlier this year when we were on Sky Sports, and roar the boys home.
“I just can’t wait for 3pm tomorrow.”
There’s added intrigue as both teams go into the meeting with new No 1s – as Richie Worrall for the home team and Rohan Tungate for the visitors reap the rewards of excellent seasons by topping the averages.
Meanwhile, Glasgow old boy Josh Grajczonek taking on Tigers skipper and track record holder Aaron Summers at No 5 is one of several other mouthwatering battles between the teams.
Tapes up is at 3pm with the stadium open for a couple of hours ahead of the meeting.
