Glasgow Tigers’ captain Theo Pijper, after consultation with the club’s promoters, has decided that he will postpone his testimonial meeting which had been scheduled for September 28 at Ashfield.
Theo said: “As we approach the date we had set, it has become clear that there is so much going on in Speedway that it wasn’t going to be easy for riders to confirm that they could come.
“There’s a long track grand prix in Germany, and I would have been keen to have some of these guys over, plus the Premier League play-offs will be in full swing by that time. The fixtures for that are not known yet, so no-one can say where they might be.
“I’m grateful to everyone who has offered to support the meeting so far, I hope they will still be happy to do so when we stage the meeting at the end of March next year.”
The party night which had been planned for a Glasgow venue on the eve of the testimonial on September 27 will still be going ahead, with tickets available at both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Fundraising events in support of the testimonial will be staged over the winter.
