RENE Bach is desperate for some golden sunshine – to match the gold Premier League medal he wants hanging round his neck.
The Glasgow ace lines up against Sheffield tomorrow and Thursday as he bids to book his place in the Premier League championship grand final.
The Tigers’ title tilt was put on hold for a week when both legs against their English rivals were rained off last time.
But he’d love a clear spell now as he prepares to face up to seven fixtures in the next 10 days in a packed end to the season.
Glasgow are in Sheffield tomorrow night with the return at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium at 7.30pm on Thursday – with the forecast looking good for both.
The Dane said: “The weather has been pretty much the same here as in my home country – but I’m not going to have time to be in Denmark in the next couple of weeks, so I’m only worried about here.
“It’s never as fun riding speedway when it’s rainy but it’s part of the game – and after a few years in the UK I’m used to it.
“Of course, with the finals coming up, it would be great to have some nice weather, to get good racing and big crowds.”
Bach has never won the Premier League before, but has the chance to win that and the KO Cup – which the Tigers are already in the final of.
He’s keen to make amends after Glasgow lost out in the League Cup to Somerset.
He said: “It’s a new week and we have all learned from what happened last week.
“We still have a lot to play for this season, so even though last week was disappointing, we need to keep our heads up and be ready from heat one tomorrow.
“Both cups would be nice but winning the Premier League would be something special. I won the two others with Newcastle in 2010 but I missed out on that.
“Winning races and trophies keeps clubs and sponsors happy, so it’s obviously important. There have been a lot of sponsors helping get me to Glasgow this year, so to win a trophy would feel like giving them something back.”
The 26-year-old signed for the Tigers as a mid-season replacement for Ben Barker and has wowed fans with some big performances, including a couple of maximums.
It’s a move Bach is glad he chose to make, having initially opted out of the 2016 season in Britain.
He said: “Even before the season started, Glasgow looked a good team on paper.
“I’m pleased I got the chance to join the club and hopefully I’ll be able to bring some silverware back within the next two weeks.
“Everyone has made me feel very welcome from day one and it’s cool to be part of such a professional club.”
