Aaron Summers says Glasgow are ready to relaunch their title bid this Sunday – by sparkling against Rye House Rockets.
The Tigers will soon be challenging in the end-of-season play-offs against the five other top teams.
Before that, they face their final programmed league meeting of the campaign on Sunday – where they need a win to secure third place.
And Summers insists the match – featuring the likes of Great Britain cap Eddie Kennett and wonderkid Robert Lambert – is as important as any this year, as a win will help build momentum towards potential glory.
It’s been a tough few weeks for the Tigers but the skipper, 27, said: “We’re still there. We’ve slipped up a little but we’ll fight on.
“You can’t take any meeting lightly. This is a meeting for some of the boys to get their confidence back and do well.
“They have a couple of good riders in their team which should keep it close. But it’ll really set us up for the play-offs if we have a strong meeting on Sunday.
“Nick’s getting the hang of the track at Glasgow a bit more, Rich is Rich and I’ll do my job. The boys should all be in a good frame of mind.”
Summers’ recent form has been so good that he’s picked up several guest bookings for other sides, as well as becoming a key player in Swindon’s charge to the Elite League play-offs in the top tier.
He’s been passing riders for fun in recent matches – and he says he’ll put everything on the line to win races.
The Australian added: “Even when you miss the start, it’s all about your commitment – I’ll always try my best.”
Glasgow will still be operating rider replacement at No 4 as Kauko Nieminen isn’t fit enough to return from a collarbone break yet, although it is hoped he will return in time for the play-off quarter-final.
Rye House’s Lambert, 17, is a recent signing for the Rockets having made a massive impact on world speedway in the last couple of seasons – he rode for Team GB in the summer’s World Cup and was a reserve at the British Grand Prix in Cardiff.
He’ll be joined by the Tigers’ 2014 rider of the year Kasper Lykke, who wowed crowds at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium last year with a series of sensational passes.
The meeting starts at 3pm.
