Spectacular Scottish season launch

The Scottish Speedway scene is set to roar back into fast and furious action at the end of March when both sides of the big City divide clash in a must see season opener.

Just 15 weeks’ from now, both Glasgow and Edinburgh will open each other’s 2014 home fixtures – on March 28th & 30th respectively – as they contest for honours in the ‘Air Fence Challenge’ for the Spring Trophy, with turnstile funds generated from each event being used to contribute to the cost of purchase, installation and maintenance of each club’s mandatory air fence for the new season.

With both rival clubs having, excitingly, freshened their team line-ups for the season ahead, this first derby battle of the year is absolutely certain to be raced in typical white hot derby fashion as first bragging rights – and first trophy winning opportunity – of the new season are up for grabs.

Of course, through the tremendous efforts of our supporters, Glasgow Speedway already has a healthy start to our air fence fund raising, with the total now in excess of £7,000!

Our sincere thanks to everyone who has organised and supported each fund raising initiative since August. The fund was bolstered further only this weekend, to the tune of over £600, through the efforts of supporters who offered a bag packing service (whilst helping promote the club too) to customers of Morrison’s in Hamilton, an event organised by Tigers fan Janice Watt.

All supporters who had ordered ‘early bird’ Season Tickets (remember these are based on a minimum of 20 home meetings and we hope that our signings to date will show that we want to progress as far in all competitions, resulting in even more home meetings!) should receive these through the post early this week – in the spirit of this festive time of year we have decided to extend the discount period to Sunday, 5th January – visit the admission section of the website to read how you can order your ticket online, and save some money on your speedway watching during 2014.
