STEWART Dickson admits his riders will be hurting as they hit the road again today following their shock home defeat to Sheffield last night.
But he’s urged his side to show character and fight as they look to recover their run of poor form at Peterborough.
The Tigers let a 12-point lead slip at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium to lose 49-44 to a depleted Sheffield side, effectively ending their hopes of topping the SGB Championship going into the playoffs.
Things don’t get any easier as they visit a track they’ve struggled on previously tonight, to face a Panthers team who have two former Grand Prix riders in their ranks.
Scott Nicholls steps in at No 1 as a guest for Jack Holder – who’s on duty in Poland – with Chris Harris riding at No 5.
Dickson will operate rider replacement for the injured Nike Lunna, while Mason Campton comes in again at No 4 in place of Dan Bewley, who himself is struggling with a groin injury.
The Tigers team boss said: “We’ll get a wee chat about what happened last night. It’s going to be sore – I’m not going to kid on it’s not.
“I don’t think expectation is high today, but this is Glasgow Tigers, we’re a big club. I’m not driving a 13-hour round-trip to go there and get beat.
“We’ll go there and try to put on as good a performance as we can, and as always we try to get something from the meeting – the guys will be told that’s what we’re going here to do.
“We need to put up a fight and show character. We owe it to ourselves and any travelling fans that we’ve got there. And the riders owe it to themselves and to me as well – we need to put up some sort of performance.
“We know it won’t be easy but today is another day.”
A second-placed finish now looks like the next target for Glasgow, who sit 10 points behind second-placed Ipswich, but have four meetings in hand – and a run of three home matches to come after tonight’s fixture – including a meeting with Ipswich at home.
Tonight’s meeting starts at 7.30pm.
