GLASGOW failed to keep up their early promise at Somerset as the home side rebelled to take all the points tonight.
The Tigers had raced to a 22-20 lead by heat seven, and were four ahead at one stage, having won each of the first five races.
But the Rebels turned the night around and the visitors managed just 15 points from the next eight heats to sink to a 53-37 defeat.
It means they come up the road from their first two away Premier League matches with no points.
The stand-out once again for Glasgow was Richie Worrall – who continued his scintillating start to the season with an 11+1 haul.
Richard Lawson scored 10 while Aaron Summers bagged eight as the top men led the way.
However, it was a bad night for Ben Barker who scored in just one of his four races and didn’t even finish his final heat – while Nike Lunna managed a point from his three rides before being replaced by Coty Garcia for his final outing.
Garcia himself won his first race then ran four lasts, while fellow reserve Danny Ayres had three third places and crashed out in his third race when trying to get back to a scoring position.
It’s probably Ayres’ performances at two unfamiliar tracks that are the biggest positives for the Tigers from their travels – the Premier League debutant scored in all but one of the races he finished at Somerset and last night at Sheffield.
The team now have nine days’ break while the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium hosts the British Championship semi-final on Sunday.
Tigers scorers: Richie Worrall 11+1, Richard Lawson 10, Aaron Summers 8, Danny Ayres 3, Coty Garcia 3, Ben Barker 1+1, Nike Lunna 1.
