GLASGOW hope ‘Iron Man’ Paul Starke can add some mettle to their side after signing the tough racer for a second season.
The Englishman, who gets his nickname from his superhero namesake, bounced back from a horror crash early last season to play a crucial role in the club’s run to the Championship play-offs.
However, he’s determined to improve having never quite hit the heights that made him the most decorated man in British team speedway.
Starke, 28 – who joins Claus Vissing and Joe Lawlor in the 2019 team – said: “It’s great to be back. I enjoyed my time last season – although year it was tough for the club and tough for me as well.
“I’m looking to come back and make a serious impact on the team, and hopefully get the silverware we deserve.
“It’s the perfect place for me – the fans have been great and the way everything is run is absolutely fantastic, so it was an easy decision for me to come back.
“I’m really looking forward to getting out on the track and winning some races and bringing silverware to the club.”
Starke has won 19 team titles in his 12-season career in British speedway, more than any other rider in the country.
