Season finale – finally!

Following the disappointment of yesterday’s wash-out there now remains just one final opportunity to enjoy the last roar of speedway in Glasgow for 2014 – and what a day is in store!

In what will be a relatively rare, double-dose of speed staged at Ashfield, this Sunday (26th October) will see the Allied Vehicles Tigers’ tackle not one, but TWO opposition teams, in a 30 heat spectacular to bring down the curtain on the current season.

Allowing for the daylight change which takes effect the same day (*remember to move your clocks BACK an hour!), with the co-operation of Workington and Berwick we have pulled forward the start time to 1pm when Tigers’ will first line-up against the Comets’ to race for the final Premier League points of the season. The league clash will be followed, as quickly as is practically possible, by the conclusion of our outstanding League Cup fixture against the Bandits which will prove to be our final meeting of the year.

Of course we all know that both meetings won’t count for much, other than squaring up the ‘fixtures played’ tally in relation to either competition, however that takes nothing away from the fact that the riders of each team will look to score points, earn money and their teams that final win AND, of course, each meeting will be the final 2014 outings of each team, each rider and for all supporters to savour ahead of the long, bike-less close season.

Admission policy for Sunday’s Speedway-fest is as follows:

BOTH MEETING’S

Adults £25

Concessions £18

Aged 12-15 £9

Aged U12 £1

ONE MEETING

Supporters wishing only to watch the second meeting will be charged at the ‘one meeting’ rate above. *NB supporters will not be admitted until the first meeting has completed, anticipated to be around 14:30pm

We will provide all the team news at the end of this week.

So, a BIG day on Sunday to round-off our season, 30 heats of pulsating speedway to make the most of before the speedway-less winter months set in – let’s plan to support the Tigers in big numbers this Sunday.

Finally for now, a huge thank you to all supporters, sponsors and riders who attended Saturday night’s Annual Awards Dinner. A thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all as the event served as a fitting way to help celebrate the club and its spirit at the end of another hard season.

Congratulations too to Kasper for collecting supporters club awards for ‘Home Rider of the Year’ AND ‘Most Bonus Points of the Year’, and to Theo for claiming the ‘Away Rider of the Year’.
