GLASGOW fans are in for two weeks of sensational speedway.
That’s the view of Tigers chief Stewart Dickson as the club prepare for the visit of some of world speedway’s high-flyers over the course of eight days.
British Champion, Grand Prix wild card and World Cup silver medallist Danny King is the chief attraction this Sunday as he leads Ipswich Witches north in the Premier League.
He’s joined by Ben Barker – who left Glasgow earlier this year – along with ex-Ashfield heroes James Sarjeant and Joe Jacobs.
There’ll be a bit of Argie-bargy too as Coty Garcia goes head-to-head with Nico Covatti, the only other Argentinian in British speedway.
Then the following week, the league’s top two go head-to-head as Glasgow bid to become the first team to lower the colours of Somerset – led by World Cup finalist and 2011 Glasgow league winner Josh Grajczonek.
Dickson insists there’s no better time to be in the stands at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium. He said: “I believe Ipswich will give us one of our toughest tests of the season.
“These are the meetings that make speedway the sport we love.”
“As a fan I can’t wait to see Danny King flying round the boards on our track – he is a sensational rider. I’m sure Ben Barker will have a point to prove and the likes of Sarjeant and Jacobs know our place well.
“There are mouth-watering battles throughout both sides. But if we keep our great form going, I know we can beat them.
“The following week could be even better, given the way that Somerset are riding. They are our closest rivals for the league and we’ll be looking to lay down a marker.
“If you are a fan old or new, get yourself along to these meetings.
“We need one last big push from everyone to get the boys as high up the league as we can and into 
those play-offs – and the fans have the biggest role of all to play in that.
“Some of the racing we’ve seen in recent weeks has raised the roof – these are the types of meetings that make speedway the sport we love.”
Before Sunday, the Tigers hit the road to visit Plymouth and Rye House on Friday and Saturday, as they hunt out extra points to ensure they keep the pressure on the Rebels at the league’s summit.
