CAMI Brown says Craig Cook’s inclusion in Glasgow’s weekend fixtures is a major boost ahead of a big few days of racing against two potential play-off rivals.
The Tigers No 1 was given a 12-day ban by the Speedway Control Bureau for his part in a brawl at Eastbourne earlier this month.
But he has appealed the decision and the board says it will hold a full hearing – freeing him up to race until then.
However, the Tigers’ cause has still been dealt a blow with Claus Vissing forced to sit out for 10 days for his involvement in the same incident – though Berwick veteran Kevin Doolan guests tomorrow for the visit of Sheffield, while Michael Palm Toft is called upon for the trips to Leicester on Saturday and Sheffield on Sunday.
Team boss Brown said: “We’re far from a one-man team as our recent results show, but we want to be going into every meeting with our captain and No 1 rider leading us, so it’s massive that Craig is here for the weekend.
“He gives the crowd so many brilliant moments and his presence is important for us keeping our 100% home record going so we’re delighted that he’ll be here.
“The downside is that Claus won’t be racing. We have to accept the SCB’s decision and although we’ll miss his passion and battling qualities, we’ve got a couple of capable deputies.
“The important thing is that we get the win tomorrow to maintain that unbeaten run and get back to the top of the table.
“It’s been a couple of weeks since we had a meeting so we’d love to see as many of you there as possible to back Craig and the boys to what we hope is another exciting but successful night at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.
“Then it’s the big one down at Leicester, where any points would be a real bonus given we let them take nothing from here a few weeks ago.
“We’re already in a good position with the away matches we have won so far, but we still want to go there and show we are a force to be reckoned with against the stronger teams on the road, especially with the play-offs getting closer and closer.”
