JAMES Sarjeant says his love for Glasgow convinced him to make a return to the red and white stripes for his third season with the club.
The quick-gating Yorkshireman is the fourth name on the Tigers’ team sheet for 2019 having helped them to the play-offs in 2015 and again last season.
Sarjeant, 25, started the last campaign slowly but improved his form in the latter stages, though Glasgow eventually missed out on making the Championship play-off final by just one point against Workington.
He is now keen to make amends by helping the Tigers get off to a better start when racing gets under way in March.
He said: “Glasgow have been a team close to my heart ever since I rode for them in 2015. I love riding at Glasgow – it’s good to be back.
“It’s a welcoming club with great fans and it’s a club that wants to win everything, so that’s a great start. You’re going to be up there battling every year.
“I’m a bit gutted about last year, especially that last meeting at Workington – it took me a week or two to get over that. I thought we could’ve done a little bit better – we turned it round halfway through the season but I’m hoping next season we start strongly and finish even stronger.
“I did up my average a bit but not as much as I wanted. I want to at least put another point or two onto my average and get moving up that main body of the team.
“We want to win that league – the more trophies the better but getting the league is the main one.”
Sarjeant joins Claus Vissing, Paul Starke and newcomer Joe Lawlor in the 2019 side so far.
