GLASGOW’S team boss has urged his riders to let it all go pair shaped in a bid to rack up the points this bank holiday weekend.
The Tigers take on Newcastle on Sunday and then Monday with big crowds expected at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium and the Newcastle Stadium.
Although Glasgow have been piling up big scores at home, Stewart Dickson feels they’re still letting some slip through their fingers.
And it’s particularly crucial to avoid that when they’re seeking points on the road.
He said: “Although we won last night at Redcar, we also threw a couple of points away.
“It wasn’t the best team riding I’ve seen, and that’s something we’re going to have to look at because I don’t think we’re looking enough for our partners in races.
“We’ll need to do it when we come up against the Newcastles of this world. We’re going to have to start riding as pairs, rather than individuals.
“I think it’ll be a cracker on Sunday with Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall, and Ludvig Lindgren can ride our place. The forecast is good and I think we’ll get a big crowd – they’ll come up in their numbers – and we need to be on our game on Sunday.
“If we are, we will win – and if we’re not, they take any advantage going, that’s for sure.”
Team GB World Cup star Lambert is among three British riders taking part in the finals of the World Under-21 Championships this year, and is an exciting prospect at No 1.
The battle of the Worrall twins will also be an intriguing element of the meeting with Richie racing for the home team and Steve on the opposite side.
Also in the Diamonds’ ranks is Victor Palovaara – a Glasgow asset who spent 2015 with the Tigers and came so close to helping them to the league title.
