RICHARD Lawson and Aaron Summers will represent Glasgow at the Premier League Pairs championship next month.
The duo head up group A at the event in Somerset, where they’ll face Workington (Claus Vissing and Kenneth Hansen), the home side (Josh Grajczonek and Rohan Tungate), Newcastle (Ludvig Lindgren and Matej Kus) and Peterborough (Ulrich Ostergaard and Nikolaj B Jakobsen).
In group B are Sheffield (Simon Stead and Jason Garrity), Edinburgh (Sam Masters and Kevin Wolbert), Ipswich (Nico Covatti and Morten Risager), Rye House (Edward Kennett and Stuart Robson) and Plymouth (Jack Holder and Todd Kurtz).
The Tigers have a good history in the event, having won it twice when it was held at Ashfield in the mid-2000s, and claiming victory in 2011 through Joe Screen and James Grieves.
The meeting is on Friday July 8, the night before the British Grand Prix at Cardiff.
Richie Worrall could probably count himself unlucky to have missed out at his former home track – but the 24-year-old did receive the news today that he’s made Team GB’s provisional 10-man squad for July’s World Cup at Belle Vue.
Worrall’s knowledge of the track will undoubtedly give him some advantage, although he faces stiff competition to make the final cut with fellow Aces men Scott Nicholls, Craig Cook and twin Steve in the running – with the likes of Chris Harris, Danny King and Robert Lambert also vying to join World Champion Tai Woffinden in the final on July 30.
