RENE Bach insists he’s ready to be a Premier League winner with Glasgow.
The Dane – who turns 26 today (Tuesday) – will make his debut for the Tigers on Thursday as they face a crunch meeting at Ipswich.
He’ll miss Friday’s top-of-the-table clash at Peterborough because of a commitment in his home country, but will make his first home appearance on Sunday versus Berwick.
Bach has won the Premier Trophy, the KO Cup, the Premier League play-off trophy and the Premier League Pairs – but has never won the league title itself.
Now he’s got the fire back in his belly as he prepares to return to the UK, having initially decided to sit out racing here in 2016.
He said: “I’m excited to join Glasgow. I think on paper they have a great team so I’m very pleased to be part of it now.
“The things they have changed to improve the stadium impressed me last year, so I’m looking forward to coming back.
“After last year I didn’t have the energy to ride in the UK. I was finding it hard to travel around so much doing Denmark, Poland and Sweden as well – and I didn’t feel I was giving it 100% in the UK because I was too busy.
“Glasgow made it clear they want to win the league. I’m 100% up for that.”
“I probably needed to have a break and get that ‘I miss riding my bike’ feeling again. So even though I’m returning to the UK now, I still feel sitting out was the right choice for me.
“Glasgow made it pretty clear that they want to win the league, and I’m up for that 100%.”
Bach replaces Ben Barker in the side, meaning he’ll likely slot in at No 4 or No 2 – the positions that the Cornishman assumed in his time with the Tigers.
He’s confident he’ll fit in well, as he knows plenty of the current crop of riders.
He said: “I get on pretty well with most of the guys. I had a few years with Rich (Lawson) at Workington and I have known Aaron (Summers) since I first came over, so I’m sure it will be good.
“It’s going to be great getting started. I’ve got meetings in Denmark on Wednesday and Friday – it’ll be pretty busy – but I just want to get the first week done, hopefully with some good scores, and then use a few days getting everything set up in the UK again.”
And asked to describe his style for his new fans, he added: “I would like to say racer.”
