Glasgow boss Stewart Dickson has hit out at critics who have suggested his team’s season is over – insisting: “We will make the play-offs.”
The Tigers head into four meetings in four days, starting tomorrow, that could go a long way to determining whether they secure silverware this year.
Dickson was left facing a selection headache at the weekend when Nick Morris was injured and Dimitri Berge left the club – meaning he entered Sunday’s win over Workington with just three of his usual 1-7. David Howe was already out through injury and Victor Palovaara was racing in Italy.
Some suggested that the wheels were coming off the Tigers’ charge following their £1.5 million team and stadium overhaul at the hands of new owners Gerry and Michael Facenna, of Allied Vehicles.
However, Dickson has rubbished those claims – and says he’ll do everything in his power to bring success to the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium.
He said: “Without a doubt [we will still be challenging at the end of the season]. I have a wee look through the forums and I see people saying because we’ve lost Nick, David and Dimitri, that’ll be us definitely out the play-offs.
“Not a chance. We are still aiming for a top two position. At worst, we will be in the play-offs – I can guarantee you we will be in the top six. But Glasgow are aiming higher than that.
“I won’t rest until I get personnel in to keep us going. We won’t let this season go. Obviously you can’t just create riders, but we’re doing everything we can to make sure that this season doesn’t fizzle out.”
Glasgow face Sheffield tomorrow in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final, defending a 14-point lead. Ricky Wells guests for Morris, with Richard Hall and Nike Lunna at reserve – Palovaara missing out again as he’s racing in Sweden. Rider replacement continues for Howe.
On Friday they travel to Somerset in the league to face a Rebels side who are in top form – and it will be rider replacement for Morris with Berwick’s Thomas Jorgensen, who rides the Oaktree Arena track well, guesting for Howe. Hall continues in place of Berge.

Then on Sunday, Berwick visit the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium, as the race for the Premier League play-offs heats up. Just six points split the Tigers in fifth and Edinburgh at the top.
