Given the hard work invested in the club during the winter, particularly in rejuvenating the team as well as the race circuit at Ashfield, the Tigers management team have declared themselves as “pretty happy” with the way things have gone in the first 4 home meetings of this season.
Add in how well the various operational changes, and enhancements to stadium facilities, have been received by you our supporters, and it is fair to say that right here, right now, things are going positively for us at Glasgow.
The new look team has gelled well and in every meeting this season we have had scoring contributions right the way through the team. Our new faces this term have all produced the goods for us, and we are pleased for them and in the way our supporters have taken to each of them. The exciting thing is that they can all only get better yet!
We made a great play during the winter about crucially reshaped, and smoothed out, the track and how this would give riders greater confidence to attack their racing and to challenge for positions throughout a race. The track literally is our speedway stage. Right from the very first heat of the very first meeting (and we have only had 4 at home so far) the quality of speedway action at Ashfield has shown a clear uplift than that we had become accustomed to in recent seasons.
This is probably THE most pleasing aspect of the season so far, and the ultra-positive effect this has had on you our supporters.
However, don’t take our word for it, the following are just a few items of feedback we have received from Tigers fans in the past week or so:
“..astonishment at the level of racing now. It is quite simply stupendous. Some of the best passes I have ever witnessed in recent weeks. Fabulous speedway. A treat to watch and my heart’s in my mouth at times. Don’t know what they have to that track but my God it works. Hearty congratulations all round”
“That was awesome today , never came out of Glasgow buzzing about the speedway like this for years”
“Thanks for another exciting meeting”
“Whatever was done to our track during the winter has done the trick and we are now watching some fantastic speedway”
“my family can’t wait for Sunday’s to come around”
“I took my family on Sunday because a mate at work had been mentioning the speedway, couldn’t believe how good it was …we will be back each week”
“As far as meetings at Ashfield go, if they are anything like the first few, then we have a far superior racetrack on our hands”
“A handful of meetings into the new season and its already clear that the track changes have had the desired effect”
We won’t rest on our laurels though, as encouraged as we are by this early season positivity we know that this is speedway and that speedway can be very unpredictable and often cruel.
For now though, let us all – as a club – enjoy ourselves knowing that we’re being treated to some amazing speedway this season, and look ahead to more of the same this coming Sunday when the reigning Premier League champs Scunthorpe come calling at Ashfield.
