GLASGOW boss Stewart Dickson revealed how his side reminded him of the Tigers’ 2011 title-winners as they bagged a massive four points at Plymouth tonight.
A rampant Richie Worrall and skipper Aaron Summers picked themselves up off the floor to seal the 51-39 win after a nasty crash in the initial running of heat 15.
Summers had to have his fingers strapped up but, unfazed, he headed Worrall home for a 5-1 to close the gap on Premier League leaders Somerset to six points.
Dickson hailed the resolve of his side – who had opened the meeting with a 5-1 defeat.
And he hopes they can repeat the heroics of five years ago, the last time Glasgow won the league.
He said: “It was a great team effort – and thoroughly deserved. There was some tough racing out there on that tight track.
“Four points is more than I expected with us having rider replacement for Rene Bach – but everyone was a star.
“Tom Bacon came in as a guest for Danny Ayres and levelled the meeting in heat two with a 5-1 – that was a very important race. It set the tone for the rest of the meeting.
“Aaron Summers had a bad crash in heat 15 and his finger was bleeding but he dusted himself down, and came out and got a 5-1 with Richie Worrall. It was first class.
“Nike Lunna had a great performance as well but everybody chipped in.
“The team spirit is good. It’s always good when you’re winning, we know that, but this feels good. It’s reminiscent of 2011 – it’s a massive, massive four points for us.”
Meanwhile, Dickson says he is positive about Rene Bach’s chances of making the Tigers’ line-up at Rye House tomorrow, despite injuring his ankle in a crash in his native Denmark tonight.
He said: “He’s got a bit of a sore ankle, but he’s travelling tomorrow and he’ll maybe have to get it strapped up.
“We have spoken to him and we’re very hopeful he’ll be there to take his place tomorrow night.”
