CRAIG Cook says fans are in for a “phenomenal” meeting when Great Britain take on Australia in a test match at Glasgow next Saturday.
The Tigers No 1 has joined World Championship leader Tai Woffinden in the GB line-up for the event – with more names to be revealed in the coming days.
Cook – who made his home debut for Glasgow last night in the 49-41 win over Berwick, scoring 12+1 – said: “It should be an absolutely fantastic meeting. The line-ups are very competitive and they’ll have the best riders from each country that they can possibly get.
“It should be a phenomenal event and the track should provide some fantastic racing.”
The meeting starts at 3pm with the Australians set to be led by World Champion Jason Doyle – pending his fitness following a heavy spill at the British Grand Prix last weekend.
It’s the first test match to be held in this country since the Great Britain Speedway Team came under new management at the start of this season.
Tickets for the event are selling quickly with fans urged to get theirs as soon as possible from the Glasgow website by clicking this link.
Meanwhile, Cook will try to ensure his qualification for next year’s World Championship series by taking part in the Grand Prix Challenge at Landshut, Germany, today.
He’ll be part of an extremely competitive field which also includes British star Robert Lambert.
Cook said: “I haven’t been there before and haven’t thought about it much, to be honest.
“I’ll wait till the tapes go up and figure it out after that.
“I go into the meeting with an open mind and a blank page. We have practice in the afternoon so I’ll get a feel for the track.
“I’ll just do what I always do – rev it, drop the clutch and see where we end up.”
