CLASSY Claus Vissing has sealed a return to Glasgow for 2019 after club bosses hailed his passion and desire to win points for the club.
The popular big Dane took plaudits from supporters in his debut 2018 season with the Tigers for his thrilling style and big race win celebrations.
He is the first name on the team sheet for the new campaign as Cami Brown’s men look to go make it to the play-off final they so narrowly missed out on last time.
Brown believes fans will be delighted to see the 32-year-old back in red and white stripes.
He said: “Claus was a superstar for us last season – the drive he had to score points, the way he hunted down opponents, the thumping of the Tiger on his chest when he won a race – he showed how passionate he was about riding for Glasgow.
“There was little hesitation in bringing him back because he’s a classy rider who puts bums on seats.
“We feel he’s capable of building on what is a low average for a rider of his quality – but more importantly he epitomises the kind of team spirit we like to have here at Ashfield.
“He’s a brilliant big guy to have around the pits, he knows what it means to race in the red and white stripes, and we’re delighted he has agreed to join us on our journey as we make another big attempt at winning the league title next season.”
Vissing started his UK career at Stoke in 2007 but has mainly been associated with clubs in the north of Britain, with stints at Edinburgh, Workington and Berwick in the second tier – as well as spells with various clubs in the top flight.
He joins on a 6.94 average, with clubs able to build up to 38 points for next season.
