GLASGOW skipper Aaron Summers says he’s relishing the challenge of facing sensation Craig Cook at Ashfield tomorrow.
The Tigers take on Workington – led by the Great Britain international – in the SGB Championship at 5pm.
Cook is in the form of his life, bagging 28 points in two matches this week in speedway’s top-tier Premiership, including a 15-point maximum away from home.
The Cumbrian is a former track record holder at Glasgow – but Summers, current holder of that accolade, wants to see the Cookie crumble when they go head-to-head in the opening race.
He said: “He’s been beaten around Glasgow before, it’s not like he’s unbeatable around there. There’s no reason why he can’t be beaten.
“He is good on a bike and he is talented, but anyone could come there and win a race if they’ve got the skills.
“It’s definitely going to be hard but it is possible.”
It’ll only be Glasgow’s third home match of the season – but Summers insists it’s time for the team to lay down a marker.
“We need to be setting our stall out at home,” he said.
“We did so well around there last year and we need to carry on from that. No match is easy – you can’t go into a match thinking that – so all the boys have to be on top form.
“If they are, we should do it.”
