Attention turns to getting our Premier League campaign off to a flying start on Sunday as Tigers go head to head with Redcar at Ashfield.
Confirmed team line-ups are:
Glasgow – Screen, Ringwood, Wright, Bager, Grieves, Horwood & Jacobs.
Redcar – Ostergaard, Skidmore, Summers, Wilkinson, Kus, Davey & Dyer.
The Western Commercial Tigers will be quietly confident having comfortable taken care of Rye House in last week’s KOC tie, particularly given the very solid scoring from all areas of the team – in particular the encouraging performances of Joey and Harley.
With the Bears line-up being fairly tried and trusted in British Speedway, and with each of their riders having had decent meetings at Ashfield in the past, the meeting is shaping up to be highly competitive and potentially very well balanced. Redcar managed to take a controversial 48-42 league cup home win over Newcastle last night.
Based on previous performances. it is likely Redcar No.1 Aaron Summers will prove to be a handful around our circuit, as too is likely to be the Bear’s very much in form reserve Micky Dyer who has been their match winner on several occasions already this season.
Amongst the questions which will be answered on Sunday are:
Can Aaron Summers get the better of Joe Screen?
Will James Wright be able to reach and take his first heat 15 win?
Can young Joe Jacobs grab his first heat win in the Premier League, and for the Tigers?
Will birthday boy Joey collect his first heat win in front of his home fans?
Will Tigers asset Mitchell Davey make a point to the Glasgow management?
…these, and more, questions will be answered heat-by-heat as the meeting unravels this Sunday, start time 3pm (gates will open at 1:45pm).
The weather is to be set fair, the track will be tip top, the Bears are bound to bring their enthusiastic, loyal and noisy supporters to Ashfield with them – let battle commence!
