As Sean Courtney advised yesterday, we will continue to scour the speedway planet (and that is little exaggeration) for the best suited fit who we believe can come straight into the side and contribute in the way the team needs.
In the past couple of weeks many doors have been opened to us, and many doors have been closed to us, as we have looked to source available riders who can pledge their immediate future to Glasgow Speedway AND who we believe can do a job for us.
With our next team fixture not now until the 23rd (home Vs Berwick) we still have some time in hand to progress dialogue with our remaining possible contenders, and please be assured that there are some options available to us.
We are having to be ultra-patient, and we need to encourage you to be equally as patient. All things being equal we hope, but cannot promise, to be able to name our new rider within the next week if not at Ashfield next Sunday.
With there being no possibility of pulling forward any league meetings next week, and with an immediate need for some additional time to source a new Glasgow rider, we have moved quickly to piece together a very competitive, and highly entertaining, field.
As announced yesterday afternoon, we can all look forward to a brief break from team matters and look forward to enjoying the rich talents on show, fighting to be crowned as winner of the first ever Red Revolution Open.
Please note that this Sunday’s event is in addition to our now customary ‘Ashfield Classic’, albeit this year we are intending to run a Commonwealth Games Individual meeting rather than the Classic label. More information on that event in the fullness of time.
Whilst there are still some riders yet to be confirmed for this Sunday, the meeting already features a first class – and highly entertaining – rider field who will contest the title and associated top cash prizes. We are finalising matters with some other equally high calibre riders and will bring news of their confirmation over the next few days.

One, very interesting, addition to the field is none other than Patrick Nagy, who will travel from Hungary with his Dad, and Tigers legend, Robert Nagy. We may even be able to once again enjoy the sight of Robert taking to the Ashfield shale, we have asked him to bring his race suit!
With next Sunday also being Fathers’ Day we would like to theme the meeting as a celebration of Dads or Uncles or Grandfathers everywhere!
Apart from treating Dad to come along next Sunday, how about REALLY treating Dad by buying a race jacket sponsor package which includes the following:
- Presentation of sponsored race jacket to a rider (names to be drawn pre meeting)
- Photograph with rider
- Race jacket to take home immediately after the meeting

Finally for now, a reminder that we will host a GP Night in the stadium bar this Saturday evening (doors open from 5pm) to enjoy all the action ‘live’ from Gorzow, Poland. There is a nominal £2 entry fee to cover the buffet, and the action will be shown on each of the 5 screens within the bar.
