GLASGOW continued their record of collecting points from every meeting this season at Leicester tonight – but they could have had so much more.
The Tigers led the Lions by six points after half a dozen races with the home team failing to gain any advantage from using their tactical substitute at that stage of the match.
But the hosts fought back and took the lead courtesy of 5-1s in heats eight and 10.
Needing a result in heat 14, Glasgow’s Sam Jensen led for three and a half laps before crashing on the final bend.
A last heat 5-1 to the Tigers meant they would have won the match had the debutant completed the previous race.
Cami Brown’s men take a point for losing by fewer than seven points – and although Leicester extend their lead at the top to three points, Glasgow have raced three meetings fewer.
The Tigers’ Peter Facenna said: “We’re gutted not to get the win but the fact we took a point from their place, something they didn’t manage to do at our track last month, is a positive we can take from the match.
“A lot of the races were from the gate and it was difficult to do anything if you didn’t get out the start, which is probably what cost us in the middle of the meeting.
“But the boys gave it their all and Sam was so unlucky to crash while leading heat 14.
“A special thanks goes to Michael Palm Toft who was an excellent guest for Claus Vissing, and Connor Bailey who popped out with a win in heat two and continues to impress us with his progression.
“We can take some confidence into tomorrow’s meeting at Sheffield knowing we’ve pushed the table toppers all the way, and I think a few of our guys will enjoy getting on to a racers’ track.”
The Tigers have another Championship match tomorrow with a visit to Sheffield.
