Glasgow Allied Vehicle Tigers 2014 season is now officially underway!
In what has already been a busy week of activity encompassing Press & Practice, Meet Your Riders and last night’s opener at Armadale in the 1st leg of the Air Fence Challenge (for the Spring Trophy), there is no let up as tonight the team head to Workington to face the Comets in League Cup action.
Whether or not you are able to follow the Tigers down to Cumbria this evening, please remember to put your clocks forward tonight so as to ensure that you get to Ashfield in time for our home opening fixture against the Monarchs tomorrow @ 3pm (gates open at 2pm).
Remember that for this opening benefit fixture – with all monies being donated towards the total cost of our air fence – season tickets are invalid, with entry by donation set at standard admission rates.
Last Night at Armadale
The cobwebs are now gone, with both Scottish sides first into action in the 1st leg of the Air Fence Challenge. Monarchs came out on top, taking a 52-38 lead to Ashfield in tomorrow’s deciding leg.
Monarch’s No.1 Craig Cook, perhaps expectedly, led the way for Edinburgh, whilst Tigers were very well served by guest Ricky Wells at the top end of the scoring charts.

Tonight at Derwent Park
The Tigers make their first cross border trek tonight as we head to face Workington in our opening League Cup fixture.
Comets are hotly tipped to be challenging at the top of the league table this year, and are led by former Tiger Josh Grajczonek, with another former Tiger Mason Campton also in opposition. Perhaps one chink of encouragement for Tigers fans comes in the news that Ricky Wells and Ashley Morris will miss this meeting due to a priority EL fixture clash with Wolverhampton – the Comets will operate Rider Replacement for Wells, with Chris Schramm due to replace Morris.
Tigers will look to former Comet Rusty Harrison to offer up strong resistance, and will also welcome our new No.1 Kevin Wolbert, making his way back from Poland, into the side in what will be his first meeting for the club.
Tomorrow at Ashfield!
It’s our BIG season opener, with the Monarchs in town looking to defend their 14 point first leg lead from last night.
Tigers are looking to erase the struggling home form of last season and will be hoping for a strong performance from our new 1-7 to take the fight to our nearest and dearest rivals.
Will Kevin, Theo or Rusty be able to lower the colours of Craig Cook? How will Dimitri perform on his home debut? Can our Danish duo out fight and outscore the Monarch reserves?
With so many questions, make sure that you are there to take in all the action as it happens – gates open at 2pm.
