ACU Officials Opportunities

As part of the continual proactive planning for Glasgow Speedway’s 2019 season, opportunities for a trainee Machine Examiner and a trainee Pits Marshall have arisen.

These roles are voluntary with the Machine Examiner reporting to the Meeting Referee and the Pits Marshall to the Clerk of the Course.

The roles require fit, energetic, adaptable and committed team players to work within a small team to ensure the smooth running of each meeting whilst complying with the speedway rule book and health and safety for all personnel within the Pits Area at all times: pre, during and post each meeting.

Individuals do not need to have specific knowledge of speedway bikes although that would be an advantage but a DIY/mechanical knowledge is a definite benefit. You will be required to attend each meeting approximately 3hours prior to the start time and be there until after the second half has finished. Therefore generally this involves 6-7 hours of a person’s time.

You need to be able to think on your feet, be personable and polite but firm but the rewards are that you will get to know all the riders and officials of every visiting track and build up relationships accordingly.

Full training and appropriate clothing will be provided.

If you are interested in either of these positions please contact either John Jack or Martin Hudson at the track on any weekend when the working parties are present, or send us an email at info@glasgowtigers.org.
