Joey – a Tiger again

With the countdown now well and truly on towards the new speedway season ahead, Glasgow Tigers have moved to fill one of two remaining team berths with the news that Aussie Joey Ringwood will return to the club in 2014.

The 24 year old from New South Wales re-joins the Tigers having served his apprenticeship with the club in 2013 when he finished the season in electrifying scoring form over the final month, to end with a first season average of 3.56.

With the Tigers having carefully constructed a new look team for the new campaign, Ringwood, along with his Danish reserve berth partner Anders Thomsen, are the only returnees amongst the six riders names to date.

Speaking about the news that Joey will return to Ashfield, Tigers co-promoter Colin Hamilton said:

We are delighted to have Joey coming back to ride for the Tigers and believe that he will have learnt much from last season and will put his first year experiences of racing in the Premier League to good use in 2014, especially being able to start at reserve.”

Ringwood will continue with his preparation for his second British season by competitive race action in Australia which will ensure that he arrives back in Glasgow race sharp ahead of the Tigers challenge for honours.

Club bosses will now focus on concluding their team building by securing the final team member within the remaining allowable average of 7.10.

Welcome back Joey!
