Calling Team Tiger

It’s another super sunny Sunday of speedway action at Ashfield, as the Allied Vehicles Tigers go wheel-to-wheel with those Workington Comets with both club’s searching for maximum league points in this vital final week of qualification for the championship play-offs.

It was the Comets who came out fighting in the early stages of last night’s clash in Cumbria, and an unassailable lead was achieved before Tigers began to find our feet. Bike troubles for Rusty prevented him opening his account on the night, although he did reel off 3 wins when guesting for Somerset in the meeting which followed.

All at Glasgow Speedway wish to send our thoughts and sincerest best wishes to Chris Mills (our guest rider last night) who suffered a serious crash in his opening heat , resulting in the lad having to be air lifted to hospital. By way of update we can confirm that Chris is currently comfortable in James Cook Hospital, Middlesborough, where he is being treated for a broken Scapula (shoulder blade), as well as having broken a couple of small bones in his back and neck. We will be happy to pass on messages from supporters as necessary. We look forward to welcoming Chris to Ashfield in the future.

So, this afternoon we do it all again, however the Comets, fresh from claiming 6 league points last night, will not be letting up in their quest to embed themselves in the top 6 this week. Having won earlier this season at Ashfield the visitors will possible start as favourites today.

However, as we’ve all seen in recent weeks this Tigers side are proving to be very resilient and through their own grit and determination have earned a chance, albeit a small one, of yet climbing into that precious 6th place.

The on track action is certain to be hot this afternoon as Harrison, Pijper, Wolbert et al look to stamp their authority over Grajczonek, Bach, Howarth et al. We may have reached the final few weeks of another season, however there is plenty of exciting racing and many talking points yet to savour.

The guaranteed winners will be you – but only if you get yourself along to Ashfield this very afternoon, once again TEAM TIGER NEEDS YOU – WILL YOU ANSWER THE CALL? Help us spread the call through social media, we need a red & white army on the terraces today – gates open at 2pm, racing starts at 3pm.
