WORLD EVENTS BACK AT ASHFIELD

GLASGOW are ready to bring more world class events to Ashfield…thanks to their new airfence!

There have been a plethora of huge international meetings brought to the club since 2018.

That has included a FIM World Under-21 Team semi-final, three Great Britain test matches followed by FIM Grand Prix qualifiers in 2019 and 2021, the Grand Prix Challenge in 2022 plus two British Under-21 Championships.

Now the Facenna family are planning to host more top draw events thanks to fulfilling a requirement of a new FIM-endorsed air fence for the 2025 season.

Club owner Gerry Facenna revealed: “We are delighted to have invested further into the Tigers with the purchase of the new fence.

“That will be installed during the winter months to bring Ashfield once again up to FIM regulation standards.

“We must pay huge thanks to the Glasgow Tigers Supporters Group and Tigers Plus. Both fan associations have contributed heavily into the purchase of the new fence and we are hugely grateful for their dedication and generosity.

“Further to that, we are very keen still to generate further funds to offset this investment. We are now inviting local companies or fans to take the opportunity to benefit from taking a full fence panel advertising on the fence.

“Why not have your very own lifetime fan panel with whatever you want on it?

“If anyone wants to get involved they can contact the club and we can make that happen.”

There will be further extensive renovation made at Ashfield during the winter months.

Work has already started on the new junior track in the centre of the main circuit. There are also other track alterations and improvements in other areas of the stadium.

Facenna added: “We are continually striving to bring the best racing, entertainment and events to Scotland and Glasgow Speedway.

“So much hard work has gone into rebuilding Ashfield Stadium and over £3million spent since the end of 2014.

“The motivation when we first stepped into this famous club was to bring back its pride, provide the best facilities and the very best riders and entertainment to Scotland’s biggest city.

“Being privileged to host such prestigious events proves we have reached our target. Now we want to bring more over the next few years.

“A huge thank you to all the volunteers and staff who make this possible.”
