THE legendary sights and sounds of yesteryear return to Ashfield on Friday night with veterans demonstration races.
After the Allied Vehicles Tigers v Oxford Cab Direct Championship fixture, the classy legends are back on track on vintage bikes including Weslake, Jawa, Godden and GM machines.
It’s always a hugely-popular addition to the entertainment and ‘Blast From The Past’ organiser Mark Anderson said: “We have been lucky enough to ride in the Ben Fund meeting testimonials for riders as well as doing these types of meetings at different tracks who will let us.
“The bikes that we ride have that certain sound and most of all smell. We class our bikes as proper bikes, not a rocket ship like today’s modern bikes.
“Racing at Ashfield would not have been possible if we didn’t have the permission from Glasgow management and promotion and track staff to run our event at the fantastic Allied Ashfield Stadium, so thank you very much from all the riders who are taking part tonight.
“We are also doing a draw for a unique racejacket. We like to give something back to the supporters everywhere we go and always offer the management and promoters the choice of charity and the money raised from the racejacket.
“Glasgow promoter Alan Dick said he would like us to support the Beatson Cancer Charity which we are more than happy to support.
“The racejacket is a one off and the back will be signed by the two teams riding at Glasgow.
