GLASGOW’S Tom Brennan says he will “battle on” despite a difficult week of illness and injury.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers captain suffered a dreadful crash during their heavy defeat at Poole on Wednesday night.
Brennan, 22, has also been struggling with a heavy cold but has improved in time to face Redcar at Ashfield Stadium tonight.
He said: “It’s not been a great week to be honest. I felt rough at Poole on Wednesday but I felt I was OK to ride.
“Then obviously I hit that rut on the first bend in Heat 7 and I was spat off the bike big time.
“I think I was very lucky to get away with that one. The bike was a total write-off but I’m just glad to have not picked up any injury. I’ll just battle on.
“It was a tough result for all the boys. We couldn’t get out of the starts and Poole did a proper job on us.
“That’s why they are double champions for the past two seasons and no excuses from us, we weren’t good enough on the night.
“Myself and the boys completely understand the frustration from the fans. But the result wasn’t down to the lack of trying and we’re going to do everything to try and put it right.
“It means just as much to us as the riders and everyone will be working together to try and fix that weak spot that was obvious watching the meeting at Poole.”
Brennan admits that the Tigers have no respite with Redcar such a big threat at Ashfield.
He added: “Redcar have already won at our place in the KO Cup. We need to hit the ground running again tonight and show what we are made of.
“We’ve not become a bad team overnight. We just need to be more consistent out of the starts.
“I know the boys are hurting after Wednesday, just the same as the fans. So we need to get some big results. That’s the plan.”
