TIGERS captain Tom Brennan has warned of Scorpions’ sting on their home track.
The club were handed the tricky draw with in-form Scunthorpe yesterday (Sunday) in the semi-finals of the BSN Series.
Brennan, 21, believes their hopes could rest on a good performance at the Eddie Wright Raceway in the first leg on Friday night.
He said: “Scunny have been one of the form sides so far this season. They are great on their home track so it will be vital to do well there on Friday.
“But we are a good team as well. We certainly don’t fear anyone and we want to make the final obviously.”
The second leg is back at Ashfield on May 19 and Brennan is confident of their home form.
He added: “I think we can be a force at Ashfield all season. But we don’t want to leave ourselves too much to do at home. Scunny are strong.
“It’s a tough one to call over two legs but we’ll leave everything on the track and hopefully get to our first final of 2023.”
After the frustration of another home rain-off against Oxford, team boss Cami Brown added: “It’s hard not to have a consistent flow of home meetings, it’s been a stop-start beginning of the season.
“It means we will be thrown into the semi-final with a gap of almost three weeks. That’s not ideal but it’s something we seem to be having to adapt to with the sport nowadays.
“The boys are all getting plenty of meetings elsewhere. We are also prepared for them to get plenty of practice in at Ashfield before we race again.”
