Following last Sunday’s announcement of intent, having verbally agreed terms, to sign former Sheffield star Andre Compton to the Glasgow ranks, we have now initiated the administration process seeking to re declare our 1-7 inclusive of Andre and another Scandinavian rider.
It is likely to be tomorrow (Thursday) before we will formally receive any Management Committee approval inclusive of confirmation as to Andre’s reassessed average having been out of the saddle since 2010 when he last rode for Workington. It is our intention too to have requested that the Scandinavian rider also be introduced to the team as part of our overall re declare.
All being well, we would anticipate making a further announcement during Thursday as to our revised line-up who will face the Bandits this Sunday afternoon.
There have been so many ‘possibles’ over the past few weeks, and so many disappointments as rider options have fallen by the wayside. We have to be pleased that Andre – and our other prospective new rider – have remained true to their starting positions in declaring their availability and willingness to race for Glasgow, and we firmly believe that these riders do take us forward as a team and as a more formidable unit. Certainly the supporter reaction to our intent to bring Andre to Glasgow was highly encouraging and fully vindicated our interest and efforts in doing so.
We look forward to getting the team together and to begin the process of everyone getting to know each other and working for each other. With Sean in and around the pits, this won’t be an issue, and we will need to get off to a sharp and strong start on Sunday if we are to begin to make life a little easier for ourselves and begin to take our home meetings by the scruff of the neck and withstand any strong visiting sides.
More from us …tomorrow!
