Tigers to measure up to Monarchs

Excitement, and a level of healthy tension, is mounting less than a day before the Western Commercial Tigers play host to old rivals Edinburgh, for the first time this season.

Both sides show several changes from last season, and the Monarchs have already inflicted a heavy defeat on Tigers in last weekend’s Spring trophy opener at Armadale.

With Edinburgh highly tipped as prospective Premier League champions even before a wheel was turned in anger this season, it does seem likely that tomorrow’s test will be as tough as the Tigers are likely to encounter this season – simply put, if we can beat Edinburgh at home, we should take confidence that we can beat anyone at home this season.

One Tiger at a bit of a disadvantage compared to his team mates is Harley Horwood who, having been forced to sit out last Sunday, will make his home debut tomorrow, and what a meeting to choose! Harley was due to have a run out at Armadale last night, our thanks to the Edinburgh promotion for authorising this.

All the team report feeling much less achy following a few knocks last weekend, and are very focused on performing strongly and sending the Monarchs home with what may be considered a shock defeat and a major confidence booster for our new look side.

With the track having been dressed with new shale during the week, and with some natural watering expected prior to Sunday, the scene is set to welcome a large crowd and to thoroughly enjoy the oldest club derby in world speedway.
