In association with Dear Friend Films and Allied Vehicles. We are delighted to announce that we will be involved in a feature length documentary, which will be filmed over the course of this season. “In the Red” will feature the story of speedway as a whole but will focus on Glasgow Tigers and our 2019 campaign.
Dear Friend Films director Patrick Rooney said: “I’m very excited to be working with Gerry Facenna and Glasgow Tigers on ‘In The Red’, a new feature-length documentary film about Speedway in the UK.
“I’ve been wanting to make this film after discovering Tigers in 2018 and – after attending a few matches – I felt that there was such a strong and passionate community that surrounded the club. After researching further and meeting with Robert Mackenzie (Marketing Manager at Glasgow Tigers), I found a story that needed to be told on film.”
“By following the Tigers throughout their 2019 season, I’m hoping that the creation of this documentary will make more people aware of Speedway’s existence and inspire the public to support their local club.”
Tigers Marketing Manager Robert Mackenzie said: “I’m really looking forward to working with Patrick this year and to see the final documentary when it comes out in 2020. He is a very passionate guy and has fully bought into what we want to achieve here.”
“Since I came in at the Tigers, one thing that has struck me is that there are loads of great stories that we maybe don’t share. The people around the club are fantastic, from the owners to the volunteers who give up their weekends, purely for the love of their club.”
“Hopefully when the documentary is out, we can attract more people to come along. Speedway is a great sport full of great stories and once you hear them that’s when you get the bug.”
