Glasgow Speedway has retained its strong links with the rich talent pool of the Southern Hemisphere by agreeing terms to bring a new Aussie – Harley Horwood – to Glasgow in 2013.

The 21 year old Queenslander first came to the attention of most British promoters during a whistle-stop visit to the UK last year, however has been monitored by Glasgow for a couple of seasons.

In his most recent outings back home in Australia, over the past couple of weekends, Harley finished 3rd in the Queensland U21 Final. His rostrum place finish was behind Kyle Howarth and Ryan Douglas, however he did outpace one Nick Morris in the final!

Just last weekend Harley competed in the Queensland State Title itself, raced at Ayr. The meeting was in fact won, for the third successive year, by Josh Grajczonek, with Harley’s 8 point haul insufficient to quite make the ‘B’ Final in a meeting with a strong field.

Having agreed terms with Harley to link up with Tigers in 2013, the club have now initiated seeking the necessary Department of Work & Pensions sponsorship agreement allowing Harley to pack his winter woollies for his arrival in Glasgow in March!

Welcome on board Harley everyone at Glasgow very much looks forward to meeting you in the new year.
