TEAM boss Cami Brown admitted he was proud of his side’s “fighting spirit” after a crucial win over Redcar.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers kept their slim play-off hopes alive with a 48-42 victory over the Bears at Ashfield Stadium.
In a hard-fought battle, Brown’s side came from four points down to eventually take the win thanks to a last heat 5-1 from Leon Flint and Chris Harris.
The top two were outstanding all night, Flint with arguably his best-ever Tigers performance while Harris picked up a paid maximum.
Brown said: “It’s still a tall order to reach the play-offs but I’m proud of the fighting spirit from all the boys.
“Redcar are no mugs and they still had a chance of reaching the top four. They also have a great top two in Charles Wright and Danny King. But Jason Edwards and Jake Mulford also really rode well for them.
“But we really gave it a go and all the boys got stuck in to get the result we needed. We wanted the bonus and that’s a big blow to miss out on it.
“However, Chris and Leon were terrific. I felt it was Leon’s best display for the club. He was also great in the pits, a real leader alongside Chris.
“The truth of the matter is that we won 11 out of 15 races but still only won by six points. That’s been the story of our season, too many last places.
“It’s been a really tough campaign for everyone at the club. Luck hasn’t been on our side whatsoever.
“But we are still in there battling. That’s all we can ask of all the team.
“We now have two more massive meetings against Edinburgh and Oxford. It’s still a big ask, but we’ll give it 1,000 per cent.”
