Following last weekend’s hectic opening schedule the Allied Vehicles Tigers are now able to focus and prepare for what promises to be another tough assignment, as we open our home League Cup account against Workington this Sunday.
The Comets overwhelmed us last Saturday evening in Cumbria, and will feel confident as they unleash their powerhouse side at Ashfield for the first time this season.
Already heavily tipped for success in 2014, the Comets bring with them several riders who have terrific records around our circuit – including some very familiar faces to all Tigers fans.
Leading the visitors is none other than Josh Grajczonek who of course spent 5 seasons with Glasgow and remains a firm crowd favourite in this part of the world. Josh has made fantastic strides in the sport in the past couple of seasons and is now, rightly, an established No.1.
Sunday will also mark the return to Glasgow of 2012 Tiger, Australian Mason Campton, who was forced to sit out the whole of last season due to work permit issues. The third Comet who has ties to Glasgow is Chris Mills who spent some time on loan back in 2012.
Add in the talents and scoring power of Ricky Wells, Rene Bach, Kyle Howarth and Ashley Morris and you can easily sense just how strong this year’s Workington side actually are.
The home camp took a lot of positives from last Sunday’s Ashfield opener, however will now look to be sharper from the gate and for improved top end scoring performances from Kevin Wolbert and Theo Pijper if the Tigers are to be expected to strongly test the visitors and claim any opening League Cup points.
Tigers 10 Match Ticket
We understand that not everyone can make full use of, and therefore gain full benefit from, a season ticket. However it is still possible to pre-purchase some Ashfield action in 2014 – and save yourself some money at the same time!
We are now offering adults a Tigers 10 Match Ticket – priced at £150 – which entitles admission to any 10 home fixtures during the 2014 season (with exception of any benefit or testimonial).
If you would like to enquire further, or indeed arrange to purchase your own 10 Match Ticket, in the first instance please contact us by email to info@glasgowtigers.co
Tigers Merchandise
Have you yet paid a visit to browse the Tigers Track Shop on the 4th bend?
We have refreshed our range of Tigers merchandise for 2014, and introduced some new club jackets, polo shirts, short sleeves shirts, hoodie and baseball caps all sporting the updated club logo – we also have a range of children sized Tigers clothing.
Other items you will find this season include scarves, mugs, flags, air horns (and refills), 2014 club badges, pens, fridge magnets, bottle openers, coasters, team photos and stickers!
So, if you haven’t done so yet, please make a point of visiting Colin and Margaret at the Tigers track shop this Sunday.
COMING SHORTLY – we are currently working towards launching an online Tigers shop via the club website allowing you to order/pay for goods in advance of collection at the track, or to have these posted to you at home.
Thirsty work!
A reminder that you can still enjoy a drink whilst cheering on the Tigers each Sunday.
Whilst we continue to work on installing a more permanent stadium bar facility, we have re-designated the 4th bend hospitality facility as our interim public bar – everyone is welcome to pop in there and purchase an adult refreshment.
New Toilets open for business!
As promised during last Sunday’s meeting we are pleased to confirm that new permanent toilets have now been installed during the week, and are now available for your comfort. Thank you for your patience.
Sunday V Comets
With the racing cobwebs now well and truly blown away last weekend, both sides should now be ready to settle back into the rigours of full blown, competitive speedway.
With the Ashfield circuit in splendid shape and condition too – SCB referee Graham Reeve heaped praise on the track and the quality of racing in his match report last Sunday – and with a noisy Comet’s travelling support turning out to back their riders, we need you all to assemble our very own red & white army to form Team Tiger.
Sunday promises to be another absolute cracker – gates open at 2pm, make sure you are there to support Team Tiger.
