TEAM boss Cami Brown wants a “powerhouse” performance from his side to end their KO Cup hoodoo.
The Allied Vehicles Tigers face Edinburgh in the MAXICab quarter-finals, second leg at Ashfield tonight (Weds).
Brown’s side need to overhaul an eight-point deficit to progress to the semis and end a run of poor results in the competition.
Kyle Howarth misses the clash due to a family issue and is replaced by guest Tate Zischke.
He said: “It certainly won’t be easy against a very solid Monarchs side who are improving all the time.
“We have got Villads (Nagel) back from injury and we’ll need to be firing on all cylinders. It will need to be a real powerhouse performance.
“The first leg at Armadale was a real struggle without Dan (Thompson) at the back end of May and we had riders out of form big time. But we did really well to come away only eight points down.
“However, reeling in a lead is always a big ask. They have got strength right through the order so it will be hard to make inroads into their lead.
“We are extra keen at the club to progress in the KO Cup because it’s not been our strong point in recent years.
“Since winning the trophy in 2016, we’ve had a rotten run of only taking victories in about three ties I believe. That’s a strange statistic considering how successful we’ve been in the Championship.
“Some of those disappointing results have come at the hands of the Monarchs who have a good record at Ashfield in the KO Cup.
“Whatever happens it’s going to be a nail-biting night and a local derby with a lot of drama.”
