Speedway racing is set for its first night-time appearance in Glasgow in 17 years.
Glasgow Tigers home matches are normally held on Sundays at 3.00pm. However the club’s recent resurgence, including a £1 million revamp of the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium, has attracted the Sky Sports cameras for a rescheduled clash with Sheffield at 7.30pm on Tuesday, 12th May.
Demand for tickets has already been high so the Tigers are offering advance ticket sales to ensure keen fans don’t miss out.
Co-owner Gerry Facenna commented: “Speedway racing is one of the most exciting sports out there and everyone that’s been to Ashfield recently has seen spectacular motorsport at its best.
“However racing under lights adds a different perspective again. With a bumper crowd expected, we’re looking forward to a brilliant atmosphere for our night clash with Sheffield.
“Hopefully this will make great TV for Sky too, which will stand the Tigers – and our sponsors – in good stead for future TV scheduling.“
With some big early season crowds already this year, advance ticket purchases are the only way for regular supporters to guarantee they’ll be there for the Tigers’ big night on 12th May. Tickets for the Sheffield match will be available at the ticket office at Ashfield from 1.00pm on Sunday (3rd May), ahead of their British Premier League opener against Hertfordshire’s Rye House Rockets.
